MIXING & MASTERING F.A.Q.

For best results, please prepare your stems without any processing/panning at 44.1/48, 24 bit WAV or AIFF. If there are any effects (e.g. reverbs/ amp simulations/ auto-tune) that you are particularly attached to, please include both raw and processed stems.

The separate tracks/stems of your project exported to individual wav files. It’s important that the tracks starts at the same timestamp in the timeline so the timing lines up when I import them in my DAW. I also need a rough mix/demo of your song.

.

It’s very important that the tracks are not clipping by printing the tracks too hot. Keep the volume balance and panning as you have them in your project. Make sure to bypass any limiter on the whole mix. Do not volume normalize your tracks.

.

It’s not essential! Keep creative effects that define your sound. Send tracks “dry” (without basic EQ/compression) for optimal results. If you are unsure we can advise you.

.

The files sent for mastering should have no limiting, normalizing or maximizing. If you mixed into a compressor from the start leave it on, if you added one in the end just for loudness please send both versions – with and without. Anything else is part of your sound.

.

You should leave some headroom for me to work with. Having said that, as long as its not hitting 0 dbfs we are ok but for good practice and safety you should aim for max peak hitting bellow -6dbfs.
